Caring for animals has always been our top priority. Being a Veterinarian and working in the Veterinary field is not just a job, it is a passion!

Dr. Scott Andersen

scottDr. Andersen is the President of our practice and has been a practicing Veterinarian since he graduated from The Ohio State School of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. Upon graduation, he became a partner, along with his childhood mentor Dr. John Hayes at Squire Animal Hospital in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. After managing the practice on his own for a number of years, he decided to sell the practice in 1997 to move onto his next venture, Waugh Chapel Animal Hospital. Today, Dr. Andersen is our resident Surgeon and his specialties include Orthopedic and Soft Tissue surgery as well as Internal Medicine. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife Nicole, their children and their slew of Rescue dogs and cats which make their family whole.

Dr. T. Mike Shedan

Dr. Shedan is our Associate Veterinarian and has been practicing Veterinary medicine since 1984 when he graduated from The Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Shedan’s professional interests include Dermatology as well as Internal medicine. When he is not working, he enjoys rooting for his favorite NFL team, the Oakland Raiders and visiting his son and his young grandson in Texas.

Dr. Scott Willens

scottDr. Willens is our Part Time Associate Veterinarian and has been practicing Veterinary medicine since graduating from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. Immediately after 9/11/01, Dr. Willens joined the Military and is currently a Major in the United States Army Veterinary Corps. He is well versed in Pharmacology, Toxicology and has a passion for exotics. He has published several medical journal articles and even a few book chapters. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife, three children and many pets. Somehow, he also finds time to enjoy his other hobbies such as taekwondo, volleyball and playing classical piano all while supplying the lead vocals for his rock band “Til September”. Dr. Willens works in our office most Saturdays and as Relief Veterinarian when possible.

Dr. Patty Pleinis

scottDr. Patty, as she is referred to by her clients, has been a Veterinarian since she graduated from The Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. After graduating, she joined the Military and served in the United States Army at Fort Polk, Louisiana for 3 years before returning to the Veterinarian field. Dr. Patty’s journey has taken her many places during her career but she ultimately decided to branch out on her own and become a Relief Veterinarian through her company ‘Animal House Veterinary Services’. She has been working with us since 2009 and has been a great addition to our family. Her specialties include dermatology, parasite control and the specialized health needs of Greyhounds and Dachshunds. While not working, Dr. Patty enjoys spending time with her husband, their 3 children and their pets. She is also a big enthusiast of the Maryland Renaissance Festival and all things Celtic.

Dr. Michael Wise

Dr. Wise has been our Radiology/Ultrasound/Electrocardiography consultant since we opened our doors. Dr. Wise graduated from the University of Illinois where he received his Doctor of Veterinary medicine degree in 1973. After practicing general Veterinary medicine for a few years he decided his passion was radiology and he pursued a Radiology Residency at the University of Minnesota from 1978-1981. Since then, he has been a traveling consultant to many Veterinary clinics as well as the National Aquarium in Baltimore. We are happy to have him on board as one of our trusted team members!
