Meet our Veterinarians

Dr. Scott Andersen

Dr. Andersen is the President of our practice and has been a practicing Veterinarian since he graduated from The Ohio State School of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. Upon graduation, he became a partner, along with his childhood mentor Dr. John Hayes at Squire Animal Hospital in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. After managing the practice on his own for a number of years, he decided to sell the practice in 1997 to move onto his next venture, Waugh Chapel Animal Hospital. Today, Dr. Andersen is our resident Surgeon and his specialties include Orthopedic and Soft Tissue surgery as well as Internal Medicine. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife Nicole, their children and their slew of Rescue dogs and cats which make their family whole.

Dr. Joshua McHarg

Dr. McHarg joined our team in the Summer of 2022 as a full time Associate. His college career started with him receiving his undergraduate degree from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA then "ended" with him graduating from St. Georges University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada, Class of 2022. He did his clinical year at the University of Missouri where he formed a love of Veterinary Acupuncture. A life long resident of Odenton, MD Dr. McHarg was familiar with Waugh Chapel Animal Hospital as he would come and intern with Dr. Andersen during his summer and winter breaks from school. Once he earned his degree, Dr. McHarg and Dr. Andersen jumped at the chance to work with one another again. Dr. McHarg is an outdoorsy guy who enjoys fishing, gardening and hiking. When he is at home he spends his time cooking the food he's grown while enjoying the company of his cat Hestia.
